Belated happy new year! Here's a round up of a new release, a new box set and news of a re-release coming in February.

Dark Bargains

Senior Engineer Izan Castillo is captured by pirates, and taken to the rundown and close to uninhabitable Triple R space station, where he’s set to work repairing their failing systems. His only assistant is Milo Foss, still an engineering apprentice at nearly thirty. Izan would never have someone so underqualified in his team normally, but working with Milo he sees that the man has abilities beyond what his lowly qualifications would suggest. He also soon learns that Milo and many others are no happier to be stuck on the Triple R than he is.

Not prepared to simply wait for rescue, Izan sets a plan in motion and begins to gather allies. Milo is the first to join him, desperate to escape the station and get back to his family, even if it means going to jail. But nothing’s ever gone right for Milo since the day he was reluctantly assigned to a pirate ship, and this time will be no exception. At least while they work on the plan he can be with Izan, the hottest guy he’s ever seen on the Triple R. Even if they are only using each other to escape. Because that’s surely all there is to it. No actual feelings involved. It’s no more than a transaction for both of them. Right?

Coming February 18th, a re-release of my M/M novella Immutable.

Lonely young shepherd Callum spends many sleepless nights in his clifftop cottage longing for a man to share his life and his bed. A companion to work at his side in the daytime, a lover to lie at his side in the darkness. One day as he gathers firewood on the beach he finds Breen, a strange, beautiful, and naked, man lying in the surf, apparently washed ashore. Has the sea heard the silent prayers of Callum’s heart and brought him this man to answer those prayers? Breen makes love to him, leaving Callum in a blissful sleep, from which he wakes alone, fearing Breen was no more than another dream. But when Breen is there again the next day Callum knows he’s real.

With Breen in his cottage and his bed, Callum thinks he’s the happiest man that ever drew breath. Until he grows suspicious of such perfection, knowing no mortal man ever has such unalloyed bliss. Until he defies the voices in his mind that tell him not to question his good fortune. Not to ask how the larder is so full all of the time. Or why the dog won’t come into the house. Or where Breen goes at night when Callum is asleep. Searching for the answers will lead Callum to make the worst mistake of his life.

Mid Year Reading Review

It's been a good reading year so far. I've finished 40 books, which according to The Storygraph is 9,606 pages read and 203 hours listened. Hours listened might be slightly off, as I have done a couple on 1.1 or 1.2 speed. (Oh god, I'm turning into one of those people. I'll keep nudging it up and then be on 2x speed before you know it!) I've now completed my read of the Iain M. Banks' Culture series, which I began last year. Loved pretty much every one of those. One was a bit of a slog in the middle, but it picked up by the end. I've also started and finished a read of the Hyperion Cantos series by Dan Simmons. I have in fact been totally derailed this year by the Hyperion Cantos (a series of four books, structured as 2 duologies.)
