Coming soon - Common Cause, plus free books and box sets head up

Image
My next release is coming on 4th of October! Common Cause Kiran Grace and Andrelis Rossen meet as cadets at the Officer Training Academy of the Union of Independent Worlds and despite the rivalries and suspicion between their home planets, Akna and Parabellum, they can’t deny the attraction they feel. Kiran’s competence and flair impresses Andrelis and challenges his assumptions about Kiran’s people. For his part Kiran is attracted to the martial society Andrelis comes from, but not their stiff-necked attitude and cultural conservatism. After they graduate and go back to serve their home planets, they know they will probably never see each other again. They can only hold on to the happy memories of that intense academy affair. But several years later both are serving as officers aboard starships which are the first to reach the scene of a devastating explosion at a remote Akna mining colony. The two crews work together for days to help the victims of the disaster and the connection bet...

New-ish Release - Embedded

Image
Earlier this year I had a short story in a charity anthology called Love is Free, which raised money for the ACLU. The anthology is still available, but an expanded version of the short is now available individually, with an additional scene added. Embedded Lucy, a young lesbian woman, is going to university soon and wants to learn all about how to fight for queer rights, just as her Uncle Mike and his husband Baz did, being radical activists for many years. Mike literally wrote the book about it; a book Lucy considers her inspiration. Now she’s going to spend the summer with Mike and Baz at the rambling old farmhouse they have restored, and learn all she can from them. But Mike and Baz seem so domestic now. So settled into the lives of the quiet village where they live. They spend their time organising church fetes, or doing volunteer shifts in the village shop rather than organising protests and picket lines. Lucy can’t see how giving old ladies rides to hospital appointments helps t...

Mid Year Reading Review

Image
It's been a good reading year so far. I've finished 40 books, which according to The Storygraph is 9,606 pages read and 203 hours listened. Hours listened might be slightly off, as I have done a couple on 1.1 or 1.2 speed. (Oh god, I'm turning into one of those people. I'll keep nudging it up and then be on 2x speed before you know it!) I've now completed my read of the Iain M. Banks' Culture series, which I began last year. Loved pretty much every one of those. One was a bit of a slog in the middle, but it picked up by the end. I've also started and finished a read of the Hyperion Cantos series by Dan Simmons. I have in fact been totally derailed this year by the Hyperion Cantos (a series of four books, structured as 2 duologies.)

New release - Chasing Ghosts

Image
My newest release is available now - Chasing Ghosts is the latest in the Ghosts series, which are loosely related stories, so you don't have to have read the others to enjoy this one. But please, feel free to do so. 😁 This is the first time I've mixed in an F/F pairing with M/M pairings in the same series, so it will be interesting to see how that goes. How many readers are there out there who enjoy both M/M and F/F, as I do? Petra got her intro to the series as a guest character in Memory's Ghosts, now she gets her own story in... Chasing Ghosts Bad choices by overconfident maverick, Dani Novak, left a fellow marine dead and Dani cooling her heels in jail for five years. Now she’s out, with few prospects and fewer friends. Dani’s ex-commanding officer, Petra Hawkins, leader of the military contractor the Hawkins Free Company, offers Dani a job on her ship, the Persephone, after a chance meeting on the Red Palace space station. Petra still believes Dani has the potential ...

My next release comes out next weekend! It's another story in the same series as Palace Ghosts and Memory's Ghosts. If you read Memory's Ghosts you already met Captain Petra Hawkins, and this book is hers. Petra still believes Dani has the potential to regain some of what she lost, still believes she let Dani down before, and now believes she has a duty to help her. As the lowest ranking crewperson on the Persephone, with her history of a court-martial and jail, Dani faces distrust and suspicion from the company’s squad of marines and the ship’s officers. But after seeing the...

The dragons have returned! Well the first one anyway. The first book of the Red Dragon series, an M/M space opera series, following Alyn Evans and Jarvez Kashari is out again now. Watch this space for the rest of the series to follow soon. Red Dragon 1: The Company Man The Red Dragon is a ship in trouble. It was once the pride of the Outer Spiral Trading Company’s fleet, but is neglected and fallen from its old glory. It’s a ship in need of love – and a new captain. More zombies and a heads up for a bargain

Image
The latest re-release in the Backlist Bonanza is here! Assumed Dead The zombie apocalypse left twelve people trapped, but safe, at a scientific research base on an Arctic island. Three years later, with supplies critically low, they know they can’t survive another harsh winter. But all of them fear what awaits them on the mainland. Former grad student, Matt Warner, has retrained as a nurse under the group’s doctor, Peter Lane. Training is not the only thing Matt wants to be under Peter for, but Peter has always resisted responding to Matt’s interest in him. Before all this started Peter had a husband, Harrison, back home. A husband he desperately hopes is still alive. Despair finally weakens Peter’s resolve and he and Matt begin sharing a bed. It’s Matt’s dream come true, even if he knows Peter’s feelings for him aren’t as strong as his for Peter. But everything changes, when the group learns of the existence of a vaccine against the zombie virus and they escape the island to sear...
